Upcoming Solo Show at Nuart Gallery

My next solo show, “Denouement”, opens May 27 at Nuart Gallery in Santa Fe. Please check back in the coming weeks for a preview of all of the new work.

Artist Statement:

My latest series of paintings explores denouement — the final resolution of the intricacies of a narrative; the outcome of a doubtful series of occurrences. These works capture a sense of plot resolving, but we are left unaware of the story, seeing only the sweeping exits of dramas untold.

The mystery inherent in the process of painting — itself a complex sequence of events — is mirrored in the painted subjects. The ending of their stories is near at hand, but not revealed — their outcome inviting the viewer’s participation.

Featured in New Book

I just received the print catalog of the art collection of Standard Chartered Bank, which purchased a painting I did a few years ago for their London headquarters. This new hard-bound book features my painting along with the work of over a hundred other contemporary figurative painters in their collection — among them, several BP Portrait Award artists I’ve long admired such as Stephen Earl Rogers and Jennifer Anderson. I’m thrilled to be part of this collection and included amongst such amazingly talented artists.

Visual Art Source Review

Thank you to Cherie Louise Turner for her review of my recent solo exhibition at Hespe Gallery — now online at visualartsource.com.

“Santa Fe–based artist Erin Cone continues to push her work, and it shows. Cone consciously explores new approaches to form, composition, and palette, and her current solo exhibition shows the painter refining and developing… Here we see a dedicated, talented painter steadily developing into an artist.”

It’s great to be reviewed alongside so many other talented artists –- excellent content throughout the site. Please check it out.
